ALE ONE carved out his place in history by bombing the 2 and 5 IRT subway lines. He was known for many clean legible letter forms in vibrant colors. He is credited for the first Mickey Mouse illustrated on a subway car. He and partner DOO 2 were prominent figures on the 5 and 2 IRT subway lines during the early to mid-1970s. They produced many top-to-bottom and window-down whole cars. ALE quit writing well before the 1980s, but surprised the New York City graffiti community with a come back for his final subway painting in 1987.

Ale is also a noted graffiti historian and the author of Classic Hits: New York’s Pioneering Subway Graffiti Writers.
