AEVON TC5 INTERVIEW

© 2003 @149st Do not republish without permission.

Where and what year did you start writing on trains?
The first time I went bombing was in 1979, Me and Les went motion bombing on the 7 and 5 lines.

What inspired you to become involved in writing?
In the neighborhood that I lived in everybody was doing it. The original members of TC5 were from my area. Plus the 2 and 5 Line ran right in front of my living room window. So I saw everything, everyday that ran on the 2s and 5s.

Did you have a mentor?
Yeah I had a two. My first mentor was DERO and my second was SEEN.

How did you get your name?
DERO in a way gave it to me. I was writing an another name and AVON was a name that I was fucking around with. He saw an outline that I was doing and he said that I should call myself that, but spell it AEVON instead. I like how it flowed, so the name stuck.

List all the other names under which you have painted?
JADE 2 (My very first name), EPISODE, DAES, CYPHA 680, HAREM, ARIEL, and AEN.

What borough are you originally from?
The Boogie Down.

What lines have you hit?
The 2s, 5s, 1s and sometimes the 6s and 7s.

Who were your most successful partners?
I never had a real "Partner". But I got up with different writers like DERO, WANE, CRUSH, and a few others.

How did you join up with TC5?
SEEN put me down. I knew SEEN, SOUND7, PHADE and others 5 members from the hood. Where I lived at, TC5 (The Crazy 5 and The Cool 5 ) was the whole neighborhood.

Any good raid stories?
Yeah, but I'm a lousy story teller. I make funny stories sound boring.

Who were the best writers of your era?
In no particular order SEEN, DERO, KEL, CHAIN 3, DOZE, SADE, WEST, CASE 2, BUTCH, MITCH 77, DEZ, SKEME, DONDI, G-MAN, NOC, TACK. There are others but these are the ones that stick out in my mind.

When did you quit painting trains?
Around late 80s, but now and then I would do something on the line, before the MTA changed the canvas.

Any closing words?
Just Peace... Keep our history alive!
