THE ONE TUNNEL The One Tunnel houses IRT 1s and 3s. It is located between 137th street and 145th Street on the 1 line in Harlem. The One Tunnel is virtually an underground yard. On both sides of the two service tracks are several track lanes in which trains are parked. It is probably the most infamous location in NYC graffiti history. The One Tunnel was one of the first lay-ups in which writers painted subway cars. It was the birthplace of some of most significant paintings of New York City graffiti's transit era. Many accidents and violent altercations occurred there as well. Back to Yards and Layups Reproduction in whole or in part without permission is prohibited. Copyright © 1998, 2002 @149st.
