ESPO
Though ESPO is not a veteran of the New York City subway movement, he has clearly made his mark on the city. In the late 1990s this native of Philadelphia's name started appearing on the streets of New York City. ESPO's main targets were riot gates. His approach to bombing is unique. He mainly targets gates that have been defaced with throw ups and tags. His objective is improvement of the gate's appearance. He works with bucket paint and brushes. The letter forms are very graphic and usually rendered in no more than two colors. ESPO has done well over 70 of these paintings through out New York City. His name also appeared on rooftops and subway tunnels. ESPO is also the author of The Art of Getting Over, a book on the history of urban graffiti published by St. Martin's Press.
